CTRL 1.0

2400 now includes three games:

  • CTRL: uplift, AI, and clone operatives in a world without death (inspired by Eclipse Phase and Altered Carbon)
  • Cosmic Highway: space truckers trying to keep their rust bucket flying (inspired by Firefly and The Expanse
  • Inner System Blues: cyberpunk freelancers in a grainy retro-future (inspired by me wishing we didn't live in a cyberpunk dystopia already)

All three are available in single-page, color spread, and black-and-white spread versions. Each one is a self-contained microgame compatible with the others. (If you're just about to try CTRL, I recommend pulling in the cyber-upgrades from Inner System Blues and the ship options from Cosmic Highway.)

I also just uploaded an updated version of Cosmic Highway (1.1). It has just a few small tweaks to the text (can't believe I forgot to include trucker hats), and a subtle change to the cover image. (The way I've been exporting from Affinity Publisher hasn't been preserving colors or layer effects, but I figured out a way to make it look more like what I meant it to.)

2400 also now has a $6 price tag, reflecting how many uploads I want to have available for it in the relatively near future—but I also put it on sale for $3, reflecting how many uploads I've actually gotten to. I've got some other playtesting and another game jam on my agenda this month, but I'm already a decent ways into (the tentatively titled) Orbital Decay, a Mothership-inspired game with a pre-made ship and some guidance for making alien horrors; Xenolith, a Mass Effect-inspired game which will include playable alien species; and another Mass Effect-inspired game that badly needs a name, which will include "power" options alongside skills. I'm also working on a "Hacker's Handbook" with a slightly expanded explanation of the rules and principles, and guidance in case you want to hack this for your own games (commercially or otherwise).

To all of you who already downloaded, paid for, rated, reviewed, or otherwise talked up 2400: Thank you so, so much. It means a lot to me to see people enjoying this. I said I'd make 5 community copies available for every $1 the game made before I priced it, plus 5 for every rating, and another 10 for every review, and you definitely responded: There are now over 800 free copies available for download! Please feel free to tell your friends—I'd love to hear how your games go.
