Habs & Gardens 1.0


Habs & Gardens is the very first (and probably only) hi-fi sci-fi 2400 microgame. (This just means I wanted to use a different typeface and some public domain NASA art for a change.) This game sees players creating (probably) mundane community first responders to deal with (most likely) wholesome situations on a (seemingly) idyllic space station. You can babysit your telekinetic nephew, play matchmaker for somebody who just woke up from centuries in cryo, and deal with a huckster who's been getting all the neighborhood kids to start synth bands.

Habs & Gardens has

  • Four 36-item tables for randomly generating station residents
  • Rules for "characteristics" you can roll alongside skills when something's especially in your wheelhouse
  • 20 situations only a local's likely to deal with
  • 20 situations that even visitors might get involved in
  • 20 situations to remind us there's no such thing as utopia — but someplace this nice is worth trying to keep nice

Probably.

It's probably not concealing an extremely creepy secret just beneath the surface. It certainly isn't when I run it for my four-year-old! 

But just in case it does when you run it, there are 20 ideas for that, too.
