Version++

Every 2400 game has been updated to…

  • Include a plain-text version
  • Remove hyphenation in PDF versions
  • Clarify phrasing in rules for rolling, advancement, and GMing

Individual games have received additional edits, including…

  • Emergency Rules: Rephrased and included more brief examples to address common questions.
  • Alt: Changed term for replaceable bodies from "sleeves" to "skins" to better fit intended themes.
  • Data Loss: Clarified room generation procedure and events, and tweaked backgrounds and items for clarity and utility.
  • Inner System Blues, Cosmic Highway, Exiles: Clarified how searching for jobs should work.
  • Orbital Decay: Suggested where to find salvage, and lowered luck die to d4 (it's scary).
  • Tempus Diducit: Tweaked some backgrounds' skills that felt a little lackluster in play.
  • The Venusian Job: Revised how "casing the joint" works for greater simplicity and less predictability.
  • Xenolith: Rephrased some species traits that seemed problematic.
  • Zone: Completely redid contact, encounter, and alteration prompts to add many more permutations.

Only the most recent version of each game is uploaded here, but if you need an earlier version for any reason, please comment here or on the community forum.

The amount of work you pour into this is impressive. I’m so happy I bought it. More power to you!

Thanks so much!

Wow! How did you go about making the plaintext versions? From AFpub backwards for everything? That must have been a lot of work!

I write every 2400 game directly into one big Affinity Publisher document, so it took a few steps:

  • Copied and pasted text from each game into TextEdit
  • Replaced some unicode symbols
  • Wrote verbal descriptions for the maps in Orbital Decay and The Venusian Job
  • Added a bunch of blank lines

There might be an easier way to do this, but at least the games are short, so it didn't take TOO long.

In retrospect, some of these decisions were based on potentially unfounded assumptions that I should've have researched better before I got started. (Is ">" any easier for a screen reader than "►"? And while blank lines make it easier to read these with your eyes, might they actually reading it worse with screen readers? Beats me!) I may have to revise them depending on what I learn going forward.

Thanks for the plain-text version.

I hope it is helpful! If you catch anything that feels like it could have been done better in those, please feel free to let me know.
