24XX v1.4
Updated wording in several places. You can keep using the old wording if you want — those are still CC BY too! — but this brings the wording of the SRD more in line with what I'm using these days in 2400. Highlights include:
- Advancement clarifies that each character gets paid (at least the way I run it)
- GM guidelines under "Rules" include a sentence on how to run characters (not with skill dice)
- Cybernetics now has some example cranial jack upgrades (because why not)
- "Finding a job" 1–2 result is clear that the game doesn't just stop — you just start the job owing somebody
- "Adding to rules" is a bit more explicit about why some rules (like help dice) are left deliberately vague, encouraging you not just to expand, but clarify
All files (Affinity Publisher, PDFs, plain text, Google Docs, and Google Slides) should all be updated. Please comment if you catch any errors!
EDIT TO ADD: Updated to 1.41 to change the word "maimed" to "injured." ("Maimed" has long been used as the example of a setback when a disaster on a roll would've been death. That was a holdover from the first 2400 game, Inner System Blues, a setting in which cybernetic prosthetics and augmentations figure heavily into characters' resources and recovery. "Injury" better indicates the broader range of "not as bad as dying" results.)
